Tonnelle Ave. Project & Palisades Tunnel Portal

North Bergen, NJ

The Tonnelle Ave. Project is building the roadway bridge that will enable trains to pass under Tonnelle Avenue on their way into and out of the new tunnel. On the eastern side of Tonnelle Ave., work is underway on the Palisades Tunnel Project. The team is building the portal where the first set of tunnel boring machines will launch.

Hudson County Access Shaft (Part of the Palisades Tunnel Project)

Weehawken, NJ

Construction of the Hudson County Access Shaft is part of the Palisades Tunnel Project. This shaft will be used to remove the tunnel boring machines that build the first mile of the new tunnel under the Palisades and insert the machines that will build the stretch of tunnel under the Hudson River.

Hudson River Ground Stabilization Project   
Location: Hudson River (Manhattan Side)

The Hudson River Ground Stabilization Project is mixing lightweight cement into the soft riverbed of the Hudson River to create a stable environment for tunnel boring. Ground stabilization takes place within a temporary cofferdam to shield the work area from currents in the river.

Manhattan Tunnel Project  
Location: Manhattan, NY

The Manhattan Tunnel Project is building the section of the new tunnel under West 30th Street and constructing a controlled pathway for the tunnel boring machines under 12th Avenue. This project also includes ground stabilization and obstruction removal work near the Manhattan bulkhead to prepare for tunnel boring.

Hudson Yards Concrete Casing – Section 3  
Location: Manhattan, NY

The HYCC-3 Project is building the final section of the new tunnel under Hudson Yards so that it can connect to New York Penn Station.
